It was called specific language impairment (SLI).It is a long-term disorder that persists into adulthood.Difficulties and needs change over time with age. It affects about 2 children in every classroom of 30 children.A child with DLD will have ongoing difficulties with understanding, talking and using spoken language. These communication difficulties can create obstacles to making friends, learning, written language and emotional well-being.
What are the signs of D.L.D.? 1. Difficulties understanding, following directions/conversations and remembering what was said. 2. Difficulties using words and/or sentences to express thoughts, news, feelings, opinions and ideas. 3. Difficulties with saying speech sounds and being understood by other people 4. Difficulties in using language socially to communicate with others
