Gold for Hannah!
We sent our athletes from Scoil Chroí Íosa to Cork City Sports in CIT on the 30th May. We had strong teams competing in both the boys ‘and girls’ categories. The boys ran well in the morning session and were very close to getting a medal in the over-11 relay race. Andrew Condron, Donnacha Kelly, Chris Fitzgerald and Liam Cremin represented the school valiantly as did the under-11 relay team of James Carroll, Bobby Fitzgerald, Stephen Bevan and Sean O’Keeffe. Gui de Carvalho, Edward Herlihy, Oran Kelly, Ryan Scannell and Ben McSweeney also ran brilliantly.
The girls’ over-11 team of Hannah Falvey, Natalia Drabent, Grace O’ Brien and Freya Shine ran a great race but finished outside of the medals. The girls’ under-11 team of Yasemin Abadan, Kim Forrest, Grace Hughes and Lily O’ Herlihy also ran a great race. Aoife Daly, Sophie Martin, Andrea Guerin, Lauren Hughes, Kiana O’ Gorman and Holly Hickey can be very proud of their efforts also.
The school is absolutely delighted that Hannah Falvey once again won the gold in the over-11’s 100m sprint. This is the third year in a row that Hannah has won gold. What an amazing achievement and we’re all very proud of Hannah, and all of our runners, after yesterday’s event. Well done to all involved!
